Energy Assessment

______ Serving Cape Cod, the South Shore and the South Coast

Why Do I Need an Energy Assessment

Just like a machine, your home is made up of many moving parts. If one part fails, it affects how the machine works as a whole. Your no-cost energy assessment evaluates the existing components using advanced tools and technology. These include the building structure, insulation, air infiltration, HVAC, appliances and home ventilation. An assessment helps to determine where there is energy loss and, consequently, the cause of high utility bills. One of the main culprits is often a compromised barrier between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. A conditioned space is one that’s heated and cooled with the rest of the house. An unconditioned space is one that is not heated or cooled (for example, the garage or attic).

No-cost energy assessments aren’t just for home owners. Rental units are also eligible. If you’re a landlord or a renter, you can take advantage of the Mass Save program benefits, including 100% coverage of weather ventilation and air-sealing. Prior to any work being done, you’ll need to provide proof of landlord’s permission, and demonstrate that the lease and utilities are in your name.

Whether you rent or own, your dwelling is one of your biggest investments. This is an easy, first step to make sure it’s operating at peak performance.

Assessment Details

Our energy auditors, trained by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) and in collaboration with Mass Save lead vendors, gather information and assess any existing problem areas. They then provide a report detailing what measures can be taken to make your home more energy-efficient. They also inform you of any rebates and incentives for which you may qualify.

Having an assessment is the first step in applying for the Mass Save HEAT Loan, which is 0% interest for up to 7 years. Implementing our recommendations are an effective way to save money, reduce your carbon footprint, and improve the comfort and safety of your home.

On-The-Spot Savings

Where eligible, we’ll provide you with on-the-spot savings measures, including:

  • Smart strip power outlets
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Low-flow water aerators and showerheads
